How trading works on PolyMeta

One-click trades on Polymarket, built-in risk controls, and real-time position tracking. This section covers how orders execute and what protections are in place.

Trading overview

How it works
Browse markets, pick YES or NO, set your amount, and submit. Orders execute through a Safe smart account on Polymarket.
All trades are non-custodial. Your wallet signs the transactions — PolyMeta never holds your funds.

Placing a trade

Trading on PolyMeta follows a straightforward flow:

  1. Pick a market. Browse the dashboard grid or list view. Each card shows the current price, YES/NO token prices, spread, volume, and signal state.
  2. Choose YES or NO. On the market detail page, select which side you want to buy. The order summary shows your estimated shares, potential profit, and cost.
  3. Set your amount. Enter a dollar amount or use the quick buttons ($5, $10, $25, $50). The system calculates shares based on the current token price.
  4. Submit. Click "Buy YES" or "Buy NO". The order goes through your Safe smart account to Polymarket. If the market resolves in your favor, tokens redeem at $1.00 each.

How orders execute

PolyMeta places orders as maker orders on Polymarket — meaning zero fees. If a passive fill does not complete in time, the system can fall back to a taker order. This is configurable per strategy profile.

Key point Good execution is part of the edge. A valid signal with a wide spread or poor fill can still be a losing trade. The system checks spread and orderbook depth before executing.

Risk controls

Every strategy profile comes with built-in risk management:

  • Spread gate: Trades are skipped when the YES/NO spread is too wide (configurable, default 3-5%).
  • Blocked hours: Hours with historically poor performance are blocked by default. You can customize which hours to skip.
  • Position sizing: Kelly fraction sizing ensures no single trade risks too much of your bankroll.
  • Signal quality: Z-score thresholds, sentiment gates, and momentum confirmation filter out low-quality setups.
  • Token price gate: For the Patient strategy, only tokens above a minimum price threshold are eligible.

Tracking performance

Use the dashboard tabs to monitor your activity:

  • Positions tab: See all open positions with current value, PnL, and redeemable status.
  • History tab: Review completed trades with timestamps, sides, sizes, and outcomes.
  • Market cards: Each card shows win rate, total PnL, and trade count for that specific market.

Bankroll management

Think of your bankroll as working capital for a series of trades, not a single bet. Practical guidelines:

  • Start with small stakes ($5-10) to build familiarity with the platform
  • Keep enough USDC in your wallet for at least 20 trades at your stake size
  • Review the strategy dashboard periodically and adjust parameters if needed
  • Prediction markets carry real risk — never trade more than you can afford to lose
